Hassan Allam Utilities alongside Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) and Infinity Power signed an agreement with Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority to secure land to build a 10 GW capacity onshore wind farm in Egypt, set to be one of the largest in the world.
The signing was witnessed by the Egyptian Prime Minister, HE Moustafa Madbouly, HE Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, HE Dr Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi, Minister for Electricity and Renewable Energy, Hassan Allam, CEO of Hassan Allam Holding, Amr Allam, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Hassan Allam Holding, Dalia Wahba, CEO of Hassan Allam Utilities, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, and Nayer Fouad, Chief Executive Officer of Infinity Power.
The landmark wind project will produce 47,790 GWh of clean energy per year and reduce around 9% of Egypt’s annual carbon emissions by displacing 23.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. The wind farm will also help Egypt meet its strategic objective of sourcing 42% of its energy from renewables by 2030. The 10 GW plant will save the North African nation an estimated US$ 5 billion in natural gas costs a year.

Cairo, Egypt; 31 December 2024: ACWA Power, the world&#8217;s largest private water desalination company, leader in energy transition and first mover into green hydrogen, together with consortium partner HAU Energy, a subsidiary of Hassan Allam Utilities, have achieved the financial close for the 1.1GW Suez Wind Farm in Egypt, the largest single-contracted wind farm in the Middle East. The project will play an important role in supporting the Egyptian government in achieving its target of increasing the share of renewable energy in its electricity generation mix to 42% by 2040.
The project secured a USD 703.6 million senior debt facility from a consortium of banks including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the African Development Bank (AFDB), the British International Investment Corporation, the German Investment Corporation, the OPEC Fund for International Development, and the Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (APICORP). The senior debt funded by EBRD included a B loan structure provided by Standard Chartered Bank and Arab Bank.
Located in the Gulf of Suez and the Gabal El-Zeit area, the Suez Wind Farm has an overall investment value of USD 1.2 billion. ACWA Power holds a 70% stake in the project, with HAU Energy owning the remaining 30%.
The project will contribute to eliminating 1.1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually and will be implemented in two phases with a capacity of 550MW for each phase, with a total of 138 turbines. The capacity of each turbine will reach about 8MW and a height of about 210 metres per turbine. The project is expected to achieve full commercial operations by Q2 2027.

ACWA Power has had a presence in Egypt since 2015, and currently has two other facilities in the country that are operational, including a 120MW solar PV project in Benban, and a 200MW solar PV facility in Kom Ombo. In 2023, the company was allocated 3,000 square kilometres of land west of Sohag for a 10GW wind project. ACWA Power is also exploring opportunities to develop a green hydrogen project in Egypt, with an initial planned capacity of 600,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually.

Cairo, Egypt – 18th December 2024: AD Ports Group (ADX: ADPORTS), a leading facilitator of global trade, logistics and industry, today appointed Hassan Allam Construction, Hassan Allam Holding’s flagship subsidiary and one of the leading contractors in Egypt and the MENA region, to build the infrastructure of Noatum Ports &#8211; Safaga Terminal on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, which will be the first internationally operated port terminal in Upper Egypt region.

The terminal’s area will encompass approximately 810,000 square metres, with 450,000 TEUs container capacity, 5 million tonnes dry bulk and general cargo capacity, 1 million tonnes liquid bulk capacity, Ro-Ro facilities with 50,000 CEUs capacity, as well as common areas. The multiple facilities will include administration buildings, workshops, warehouses, and authority buildings, along with extensive infrastructure development including roads, utilities and security systems.

The project will feature a 48,000 square metre concrete apron, an 80,354 square metre container terminal with supporting infrastructure, and approximately 66,360 square metres for general cargo and break-bulk operations.

The terminal is part of approximately USD 349 million in investments made by the Group in Egypt over the last three years, which includes the purchases of maritime companies Transmar, TCI and Safina, the planned construction of a Ro-Ro terminal in Ain Sokhna, and long-term concessions to develop and operate cruise terminals in Safaga, Hurghada, Ain Sokhna and Sharm El-Sheikh.

The UAE is Egypt’s second-largest trading partner and its biggest international investor, according to the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS), with USD 9.6 billion invested in the country in 2023. The UAE had a trade volume of AED 25.2 billion (USD 6.9 billion) with Egypt in 2023, according to the UAE Ministry of Economy.

Over 1,600 Emirati companies are present in Egypt. In February 2024, the two countries signed a landmark agreement that will see the UAE invest USD 35 billion to develop the Ras El-Hekma coastal region, 350 km northwest of Cairo.

The agreements include two Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for the construction of solar projects with a combined capacity of 1.2G gigawatts (GW) and 720 MWh (megawatt hours) Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), marking a major milestone in Egypt’s clean energy development.
The projects include a 900MW solar plant with BESS in Wahat, and a 300MW solar plant with BESS to be located in Benban. Once operational, these plants are expected to play a critical role in reducing carbon emissions, supporting Egypt’s sustainability ambitions, and increasing the supply of clean energy in Egypt.
It will also be the first development to come on stream in the broader strategic partnership between Hassan Allam Utilities, Masdar, and Infinity Power, which is looking to develop close to 11 GW of renewable power generation capacity in Egypt.

The monorail spans 3.6 kilometers and features a driverless autopilot operation, setting new standards in safety and efficiency. The sleek, elevated system will consist of six trains, traveling along a circular track with six stations strategically placed across the district to connect key areas, encompassing office buildings, retail spaces, and leisure facilities. The monorail also offers seamless connectivity by integrating with the Riyadh Metro, making transfers smooth with enhanced accessibility throughout the city. Our scope of work includes the micro-tunneling installation of DN600&amp;800 mm reinforced concrete jacking pipes then insertion of DN400 mm ductile iron pipes, along with the construction of 4 shafts using the secant piles method.

Hassan Allam Holding is proud to announce that its subsidiary, Hassan Allam Construction, along with SYMX Infrastructure, a leading U.S. technology-focused healthcare sciences and infrastructure multidisciplinary provider, has been awarded the contract for the construction of the International Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research and Therapeutic Center in Cairo, Egypt.

International Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research and Therapeutic Center

bp has entered into a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) to join the existing consortium comprising of Masdar, Hassan Allam Utilities and Infinity Power to explore the potential development of a multi-phase green hydrogen (gH2) project in Egypt.

Under the JDA, bp will act as the main developer and operator of the project on behalf of the consortium. The partners are combining their respective gH2 projects in Egypt and will also explore the potential for a single large-scale, multi-phase project for the development of gH2 and its derivatives, with a focus on exports.

The newly formed consortium has signed a Framework Agreement (FWA) with the Egyptian government to start carrying out a set of studies and activities to evaluate the technical and commercial feasibility of the project.

The FWA agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Egypt-EU Investment Conference by Nader Zaki, bp’s Regional President, Middle East and North Africa; Karim Hefzy, Chief Operating Officer of Hassan Allam Utilities; Andreas Bieringer, Director, Green Hydrogen Business Development and Commercial, Masdar and Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Chairman of Infinity Power, and witnessed by H.E. Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Mohamed Shaker, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Dr. Hala El-Said, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development.

The plant secured four GWR global records including the world&#8217;s largest water treatment facility, the most capacious and operationally robust water treatment plant, the largest area for epoxy coating in structures, and the biggest sludge treatment plant globally.
These accolades were celebrated in an official ceremony attended by government officials including Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Major General Ahmed Al-Azzazi, Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces. The plant has a remarkable production capacity of 7.5 million m3/day of agricultural drainage water which plays a crucial role in the reclamation and development of 2 million acres in the western Delta region. Spanning an expansive area exceeding 320,000m2, the plant operates at an impressive capacity of 86.8 m3/second and boasts a substantial sludge treatment capability of 670.01 kg/s. This project stands as one of the most significant sustainability initiatives worldwide, incorporating state-of-the-art sustainable technologies and solutions. Completed within a record-setting time of 24 months, the plant serves as a pivotal component of Egypt&#8217;s national water resources plan, aiming to ensure water security for the country and foster prosperity and sustainability for future generations.

The New Delta Irrigation Water Treatment Plant, constructed by a joint venture comprising Hassan Allam Construction, Orascom Construction PLC, The Arab Contractors, and Metito, under a mandate from the Ministry of Defence - Armed Forces Engineering Authority, is declared the world's largest water treatment facility by the Guinness World Records (GWR).

This Axis connects Luxor’s Eastern and Western Desert Roads, passing across the Eastern Agricultural Road, to the Western Agricultural Road, and the Nile River. The project includes one main bridge crossing the Nile river and 10 other bridges crossing road intersections with a total length of 3.4 km; connected by 18 km road networks.
The axis is aimed at supporting tourism as it serves as a gateway to Luxor&#8217;s treasures, seamlessly connecting iconic sites like the Temple of Luxor and Karnak in the East to Hatshepsut and the Valley of the Kings in the West. Its completion reduces travel times and alleviates congestion, fostering comprehensive development in Upper Egypt, aimed at benefiting the local population.
In line with Egypt’s Vision 2030, the project plays a significant role in stimulating the country’s economic and social development by enhancing traffic circulation, improving overall accessibility, and boosting the tourism sector.

Our scope of work includes the construction of the primary coral nursery and external/infrastructure works, with a total built-up area of 24,720 m². This initiative is a response to the global coral reef situation, aiming to proactively address the coral bleaching caused by climate change and rising seawater temperatures.
Our collaboration with KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) is a true testament to the power of partnership and collective action in addressing the pressing environmental challenges of our time. The #KAUST Coral Restoration Initiative, is the world’s largest coral restoration efforts as it not only aims to restore and protect marine environments but also serves as a model for sustainable conservation efforts. Cairo, Egypt, May 15, 2024: Infinity Power, the largest African renewable energy developer, along with Hassan Allam Utilities, a sustainable infrastructure focused development and investment platform, and the UAE&#8217;s flagship renewable energy company, Masdar, one of the world’s leading clean energy companies, have today signed a Land Access Agreement with the Egyptian Government for the consortium’s 10GW capacity onshore wind farm in Egypt, set to be one of the largest in the world, with a project value exceeding US$10 billion.
The agreement gives the Consortium access to a 3025 km2 area of land located in West Suhag, and will allow the consortium to conduct the necessary development studies to progress the project. This will include resource measurement campaigns, geotechnical and topographic surveys, in addition to the environmental studies to ensure minimal environmental impact.
These studies represent an important step forward in the project development, and the findings will be vital in progressing towards construction. Once under construction the wind farm will deliver significant benefits to local communities, including job creation with commitments to hire locally, community support initiatives, and the protection and support of the natural environment.
The landmark wind project will produce 47,790 GWh of clean energy per year and cut around 9 percent of Egypt’s annual carbon emissions by displacing 23.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.  The wind farm will also help Egypt meet its strategic objective of sourcing 42 percent of its energy from renewables by 2030. The 10 GW wind farm will save the country an estimated US$5 billion in natural gas costs per year.
Witnessed by the Prime Minister of Egypt, HE Moustafa Madbouly and HE Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Egypt, the agreement was signed by Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Chairman, Infinity Power, Karim Hefzy, Chief Operating Officer at Hassan Allam Utilities and Dr. Mohamed Asaad Taher, Senior Manager, Business Development and Investment at Masdar.

The initial project agreement to develop the 10 GW wind farm was signed between the Consortium and the Egyptian Electricity Transmission company and witnessed by the presidents of the UAE and Egypt on the sidelines of the UN climate change conference, COP27 in late 2022.
